EYE OF THE WIND CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS
25-27 MARCH, 2011
"The time has come", the walrus said, "to talk of many things
Of ships and sails and holy stones,
Of friends and gatherings
And why the sea is in our blood
And whether fish have wings".
(apologies to Lewis Carroll)
The time has indeed come to plan a gathering in Sydney to renew old friendships, meet other people whose lives have been touched by the "Eye", and celebrate the old girl attaining her century!
- Evening of Friday 25th March: "Birthday" party at Rod and Stella's art studio in Newtown, Sydney. Supper provided.
- Saturday 26th March (probably am): 3 hour sail on "Southern Swan" on Sydney Harbour. Light luncheon provided. "Southern Swan" has a maximum capacity of 100 people, so "first come, first served"!
Saturday evening will be free for people to meet up with old friends/enjoy Sydney
- Sunday 27th: casual lunchtime picnic, probably in the Botanic Gardens.
Tiger and Deb have arranged to limit costs to $100 per person to cover food and alcohol on Friday night, a DVD of the "Eye of the Wind's" history, plus "Southern Swan" charter fees and food on board.
Individuals will be responsible for other expenses: drinks on "Southern Swan", Saturday night entertainment and Sunday picnic provisions.
We must confirm the charter booking with "Southern Swan" so please register your interest in attending asap with
Further information on venues and events plus details on payment arrangements will follow on receipt of interest.
Please circulate this information to others you may know who were involved in EOW through "Adventure under Sail", "Operation Drake", film contracts, tall ship events etc.
Hoping to see you in March
